Orlando Magic Youth Foundation Intern - Orlando Magic (Orlando, FL)

JOB SUMMARY 

Assist in the Foundation’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain its work in the community through the solicitation of donations (monetary and in-kind) through individuals, foundations, corporations, and staff. Manage in-game and online auctions, auction database management and autograph inventory, and assist with the Orlando Magic Youth Fund grant process all while aligning with the organization’s business goals and fulfilling the mission of OMYF.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with all aspects of the OMYF Open Golf Tournament and OMYF Gala as necessary with mailings, soliciting donation/raffle/silent auction items, receiving, assessing value, tracking donations, writing auction descriptions, taking photos of items, guest and auction registration, auction volunteer coordination, auction set-up, auction check-out, donor correspondence and thank you letters, etc.

• Maintain OMYF donor databases, which include all event, auction, online, private, and employee giving campaign donations to the Foundation (monetary and in-kind donations). Database includes donor contact information, item(s) donated, etc.

• Manage online and in-game auctions by securing creative items to be autographed and placed on the online auction site each home game, coordinate league affidavits and certificates of authenticity. Monitor the bidding process and assist donors with the payment/check-out process, distribution and pick up of items and thank you letters to the supporters. Generate monthly revenue reports to supervisor. 

• Assist in OMYF Grant Cycle as necessary, including but not limited to processing grants, maintaining records of applications received, assisting with board meetings, site visits, follow-up evaluation, grant reception, ordering awards, scheduling game night grant presentations, correspondence with grant recipients, obtaining and reviewing mid-year and end of year grant reports, and researching new organizations who qualify. 

• Assist with team autograph session and donation requests, which include tracking requests, coordinating delivery or pick-up of items, managing autographed inventory and reporting items donated.

• Assist with writing content for website updates, newsletter and playbill features, and all social media posts for the Foundation (Facebook and Twitter). 

• Maintain current knowledge of league and team foundation events and generate ideas on how to improve existing programs.

• Maintain knowledge of current trends in the sports and entertainment industries to aid in the procurement of auction items.

• Research other national sports teams (NBA, NFL, NHL, etc.) fund-raising activities to enhance those of the OMYF.

• Assist with in-game presentation of grant recipients and other on-court presentations.

• Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results.

QUALIFICATIONS


• College degree requirement: Junior, Senior or graduate-level students or recent college graduates (up to 18 months). 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related computer skills required. 
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and support multiple high level executive positions.
• Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
• Ability to take direction without follow up.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.
• Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.

Digital Video Content Intern - Orlando Magic (Orlando, FL)

JOB SUMMARY 

Responsible for coordinating day-to-day projects on orlandomagic.com, social media sites and other digital platforms. Also be responsible for loading web content and providing editorial coverage for orlandomagic.com.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with Magic Gameday web/social show
• Edit video vignettes, features, and web shows
• Produce motion and video infographics



• Equipment set-up and strike for studio and field production 
• Use Adobe Photoshop to edit photos that will be posted on OrlandoMagic.com and Social Media channels
• Create social media video packages to engage fan base on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
• Assist our Digital Strategy team in generating innovative and unique video content for web/social
• Assist Digital Content in gathering postgame and practice sound
• Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results. 
• Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry video equipment (i.e. video cameras, tripods, lighting gear, etc.)
Ability to sit at edit/computer stations for long periods of time (digitizing, editing, logging, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Junior, Senior or graduate-level students or recent college graduates (up to 18 months) required. Vocational broadcasting students accepted as well.
• Required working knowledge and experience with: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Encore or DVD Studio Pro, Video Compression formats, DSLR / XDCAM cameras
• Knowledge of basketball/NBA preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related computer skills required. 
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.

Innovation Intern - Orlando Magic (Orlando, FL)

JOB SUMMARY 

The Orlando Magic Innovation Intern will have the unique opportunity to do indispensable work with great people in one of professional sport’s first innovation labs. Each project has the opportunity to inspire our colleagues, partners, and the NBA. The Innovation Intern will help curate daily aspects of the Innovation Lab including scheduling sessions, documenting our projects, performing research with project teams, and identifying relevant innovation and industry insights. The intern will coordinate external projects and meetings in the Innovation Lab with key stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with innovation lab operational tasks; scheduling lab sessions, setting up lab sessions and coordinating with external speakers and mentors 
• Participate in human-centered design training opportunities with the possibility to utilize these teachings through involvement in innovation lab projects
• Identifying and posting relevant industry media news and insights with a focus on innovation and human-centered design in sports, entertainment and media. 
• Assist with tracking projects, and other project management office tasks
• Assist and help design documentation including graphical documentation to tell the story of the lab or projects in the lab
• Work amongst other internal departments of the Orlando Magic on research for innovation projects as assigned
• Assist game night projects as assigned including organizing / hosting vendors and visitors related to projects, testing, or ethnographic research activities as assigned.
